This clever ADSL filter is actually also the front section of the BT master socket. You can remove the consumer part of the BT master socket (NTE) and replace it with this one. On the front it has a BT telephone socket and an RJ11 for the broadband modem connection. the ADSL filter is then built into the BT master avoiding ugly ADSL filters that stick out.
Additionally, the unit has a punch down on the back for telephone extensions just like the normal BT master front plate. The difference here is that this connection actually goes through the ADSL filter rather than bypassing it. This is ideal for alarm systems that need dial up as you will often find the alarm enginner will connect the cable to the back of the BT master result in distruption of broadband service. This product avoids this happening.
