2GIG-PIR6-433 Wireless PIR Motion Detector

The 2GIG PIR6-433 is a wireless, pet immune motion detector. The unit belongs to the 2GIG family of 433 MHz wireless security sensors and is compatible with any 2GIG Go!Control alarm panel. The device is tamper protected and offers full RF supervision. Supervision is setup so that if the motion ever stops communicating properly with the panel it will issue a trouble to the system. After inserting the included coin cell battery the installer needs to press and release the tamper switch inside the unit. This will power up the device and allow you to program it into your alarm system.

This motion detector has a maximum detection range of 30 feet deep and 50 feet wide. Reaching this max range requires the motion to be set to high sensitivity.

During installation, the installer must adjust the jumper pins in the device in order to set pet immunity and sensitivity levels. Pet immunity requires the ambient temperature to remain between 50F degrees and 90F degrees. There is a diagram in the installation guide which depicts the left jumper block as the pet immunity settings and the right jumper block as the sensitivity. By default, the immunity pins are positioned to tolerate pets up to 55 pounds and the sensitivity is set to low. Pet immunity can be set at 33 pounds or 55 pounds by repositioning the jumper. If you do not have pets, you can set the sensitivity to high which ignores the pet immunity altogether.

Motion detection is a great way to protect an open area with several entry points, especially fixed glass panes or screens that cannot be protected with a contact. Although it is recommended to protect any doors and windows with contacts, a motion detector can be a more affordable alternative as you are building out the system. Also, wireless door/window contacts do not play well with metal door and window casings. A motion sensor offers versatility in these types of situations.
